A comas is used to get direction and navigate through the unknown region where no landmark can be otherwise noted down, or the place is being visited for the first time.

The compass normally points in the north-south direction and the east-west bearings are determined too with these, and one can make out a route.

⭕ The instrument shown in the figure is Compass. Compass is generally used for finding and to know the direction. The compass is worked on the magnetic field and the needle inside it starting moving to the north and the south pole. this is very useful equipment used by people in ancient times for finding the locations.
