what is the use of voltmeter

see voltmeter is not directlly attched in the main circuit because it jac lot of RESISTANCE so it is used parallel to the wire so that no resistance is offerrd by it.Basically it is used to find the resistance between two points but REMEMBER--it has lot of resistance so it is used parallel to the main circuit

Voltmeter is used to measure volts or potential difference in circuit. Voltmeter is always connected in parallel circuit.
