Its valency is 0 as it satisfies Octet rule ( 5 + 3 = 8 electrons in outermost orbit. Its Oxidation number of is equal to Zero…that means that it may not loose or gain any more electrons as it is very stable compound. Now speaking of Ammonium ion, it has one nitrogen less, so its valency is +1.0
