The valency of argon is 0 because it is a noble gas and it doesn't react with any other and metal and has 8 electrons in its valence shell

Dear Student,

◆ Valency -

  • Valency is the combining capacity of an element.
  • It depends on no of free electrons in outermost orbit of atom.
  • It's measured by the number of hydrogen atoms it can displace or combine with.

# Valency of Argon -

  • Electronic configuration of Argon (Z = 18) is 2, 8, 8.
  • As its last shell is completely filled with electrons, it is very stable.
  • It doesn't accept/donate electrons.
  • Therefore, valency of Argon is zero.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
