what is the valency of chlorine in KCL and CaCl2 ​

The Atomic number of chlorine I.e. Cl is 17 and it's electronic configuration is 2,8,7. Since it has 7 valence electrons in it's outermost shell and it needs one electron to complete it's octet. Hence, it's valency is -1.
