What is the valency of element in VIA of the modern periodic table.what is the reason for the fact that the reactivity of group VIA element decrease as we go down the group.

when we go from up to down the atomic number is increases and one electron is added to last shall.eglithium has 3 atomic number and its valency is 2 and sodium atomic no is 11 and its valency in l shell is one.there fore when we go upto down the valency is change as well as one shall is added...
