Halogen group – (-X) can combine with one atom. So its valency is 1

Alcohol group – (-OH) has a valency of 1

Aldehyde group – (-CHO) has a valency of 1

Ketone group – (-CO-) has valency of 2

Carboxylic acid group – (-COOH) has a valency of 1
