Hello....!!! 

one atom of Hydrogen combines with one atom of chlorine to form Hydrochloric acid !
hydrogen has a valencey 1 and chlorine has valencey 7 
chlorine required 1 elecron to complete it's octet to attain nearest nobel gas structure..

so it's take one elecron from hydrogen to stable itself..
