its atomic number is 21.

so its elecronic configuration will be:- 2,8,9,2 or 2,8,8,3

hence a valency of 2+ or 3+.

treesajacob21: it can loose 2 electron from 4s and shows +2 oxidation state. if it losses 1 electron from 3d then it shows +3 oxidation state. The atomic number of scandium is 21. It is a transition metal and shows a valency of 3.
vetri26: thank you
treesajacob21: ur welcome
