CORRECT ANSWER IS : (i) [+ 4 ]

EXPLANATION :

Let us take 16 = -4.

We can write,

√16 = (√-4 × -4 )

√16 = ( √4 × √-1) × (√4 × √-1)

√16 = √4 × √4 × √-1 × √-1

√16 = √16 × -1

√16 = - √16 , which is not possible.

and , under root cannot be in negative.

Therefore, the value of √16 is always +4.
