Gravitational acceleration varies from place to place as it depends on the mass of the pulling object. If we go to moon the g will be different and on earth it will be different. Even on earth g value varies as earth is not a perfect sphere but we consider the value of g as a constant as it doesnt vary to a large extent hence g=9.8m/s^2
