Given equation :- x² + 8x + k
and given zero :- x + 1
that is x = -1

Now if we put value of x as -1 we get zero as resultant.

x² + 8x + k = 0

( - 1 )² + 8 × - 1 + k = 0

1 - 8 + k = 0

-7 + k = 0

k = 7

Hey there!!
Down here⏬

>> P (x) = x^2 + 8x + k

>> x+1 = 0.
x = -1

>> P (-1) = (-1)^2 + 8× (-1) + k = 0
1 + (-8) + k = 0
-7 + k = 0
k = 0+7
k = 7

Simple!!
Hope it helps.♥
