Given:

log 1.25

To find out the value of log 1.25:

Solution:

log 1.25 = log 1.25 × 10¹

             =log(0.125) + log 10

Using logarithm property,

=log(0.125)+1 .......... (since, log 10 value is 1)

Now, We have to find the value of log (0.125)

Taking the first two digits as row i.e 12 and the third digit as column i.e 2

The corresponding value from log table is 0.864.

Again, mean difference value corresponding to the row 12 and column 5  is, 17

Adding two values,

0.864+17 = 17.864

Characteristic = (Number of digits to the left of decimal – 1) = 2-1 = 1

On combining both value

log (1.25) = 1.17864

Thus, log(1.25) = 1.178 .
