what is the value of losing something?
Answers
It is human nature to take things for granted. I do not know what the 'something' is, according to you, but I would use the example of human relationships. We do tend to take our nearest and dearest for granted, the most. Especially our parents. They never expect our thanks, but it wouldn't hurt to say it once in a while, if not through words, through actions. You never know when it is too late. I have struggled with the notion of undervaluing things, and I think it is because we have a lot of artificial issues, that are created around us to keep us occupied, like job stress, husbands, wives, children, our pursuit of power, money and success, our aspirations and what not, when the only thing that matters is family, our parents, who put us on earth, nurtured us, gave us everything from nourishment, an education and our values, often at the expense of their own happiness. I do not approve of selfishness due to this, and I think spending time to take care of them is not time wasted, but time gained and earned. It is for us to condition our mind to realise what the things are that matter and to take the time to cherish it. Else we do end up longing for something that we could have enjoyed while it lasted.
