One light year = speed of light × number of seconds in a year .

= (3×10^8 m / sec ) × (365 × 24 × 60 × 60 sec )

= 3× 10^8 × 365 × 24× 60 × 60

= 9.46 × 10^15 m OR. 9.46 ×10^12 KM
