We know that any point on cartesian coordinates system is of the form (a, b)

Where ,

Abscissa = a

Ordinate = b

If the point lies on x axis then ordinate = b = 0

If the point lies on y axis then abscissa = a = 0

From above we can conclude that ,

The value of ordinate on the x axis is 0 and abscissa on the y axis is 0
