Given:-

  • 9,8,x,1,2,3
  • Median= 4.5

To Find:-

  • Value of x.

Solution:-

Median when number of observations are even : mean of two middlemost numbers

Since the two middle most numbers are x and 1.

So, Median= \frac{x + 1}{2}

In The Question it is given that the median of the following data is 4.5

So, 4.5 =  \frac{x + 1}{2}

 =  > 4.5 \times 2 = x + 1

 =  > x = 9  - 1

 =  > x = 8

Hence the value of x is 8
