There are four main types of coal: lignite, sub-bituminous, bituminous and anthracite.
The ranks of coal (from most to least carbon content) are as follows: anthracite, bituminouscoal, subbituminous coal, and lignite. The coal with the highest carbon content is the best and cleanest type of coal to use..


Steam coal,graphite, Peat are also a type of coal used by humans.

Coal is a type of fossils fuel
it is of three type -

1) , Peat - it has low carbon and high moisture contents and low heating capacity

2) Lignatite - it is a low grade brown coal n is soft with high moisture content

3) Bituminous - it is buried deep and subjected to increased temperature

4) Anthracite - it is the highest quality hard coal
