A ventricle is one of two large chambers in the heart that collect and expel blood received from an atrium towards the peripheral beds within the body and lungs. The atrium (an adjacent/upper heart chamber that is smaller than a ventricle) primes the pump.....

Ventricles are 2 thick walled distributing chambers placed inferiorly and separated from each other by intervantricular septum.

Left ventricle has thickest wall as it has to pumps blood to all parts of the body.

The inner surface of the ventricles is thrown into a series of irregular muscular ridges called column carnae.


Pulmonary trunk or aorta arises from the right ventricles carrying deoxygeneted blood to lungs for oxygenation.


Pulmonary aorta and systematic aorta have 3 semilumnar valve.
