We know that 1 mole of any ideal gas occupies 22.4 l (at NTP)

Thus 1 mol. = 22.4l

Given ;

no. of molecules = 24 × 10²⁴ molecules

let NA = 6 × 10²³ for approximate value

Thus no. of moles;

  • n = N/NA
  • n = 24 × 10²⁴/6×10²³
  • n= 40 moles.

Thus by using unitary method;

1 mol. ----- 22.4l

40mol.---------x l

therefore;

  • x = 40 × 224 ÷ 10
  • x = 4 × 224
  • x = 896 l

thus the given no. of molecules occupies 896 litres.
