Given :

Wavelength (λ) = 2000Å

To Find :

The wave number

Solution :

We know,

                  Wave number = \frac{1}{Wavelength}

As the wavelength is given in Angstrom, we need to convert it in meters.

1 Å = 10^{-10} m

so, 2000Å = 2000 ×  10^{-10} m = 2 × 10^{-7} m

∴ Wave number = \frac{1}{2 * 10^-^7}

                           = \frac{10^{7} }{2}

                           = 5×10^{6} m^-^1

Therefore, The wave number of radiation having wavelength 2000 Å is 5×10^{6} m^-^1.
