WAVELENGTH OF UV RAYS :

We must know that UV RAYS are a part of the electromagnetic spectrum and are broadly classified into three bands :

These band classification is based on the wavelength range :

1) \: UV_{A} = 315 - 400 \: nm

2) \: UV_{B} = 280 - 315 \: nm

3) \: UV_{C} = 100 - 280 \: nm

So, the net range of wavelength of UV Rays is 100 - 400 nano-meters.

Some of the uses of these rays :

  • UV rays are used for disinfection and sterilization of surfaces and instruments.

  • They are used for phototherapy.

  • They are used for production of fluorescent effects.
