If the year is like 1533 AD, 21 AD, (or Christian Era), 1890 AD etc., the century is 1 plus the first two digits of the year. ie., one plus the number of hundreds in the year.
So 1533 CE is 16 th century. 21 CE (0021 CE) is the 1st century.
If the year is before Christian Era (BC), then it is the number of hundreds in the year plus 1.
99 BC means first century BC.
320 BC means fourth century BC.
So 1533 CE is 16 th century. 21 CE (0021 CE) is the 1st century.
If the year is before Christian Era (BC), then it is the number of hundreds in the year plus 1.
99 BC means first century BC.
320 BC means fourth century BC.
