A white ring of solid ammonium chloride forms where the two gases meet inside the tube. If necessary, protect non-glass surfaces of an overhead projector with clear plastic.

Answer:

The white ring is formed with: Ammonia and Hydrogen Chloride. The concentrated ammonia is placed on a pad in one end of a tube and hydrochloric acid on a pad at the other. About a minute after the gases diffuse far enough to meet and a ring of solid ammonium chloride is formed.
