Since we got the independence in 1947 automatically Mr Jawaharlal Nehru became the Prime Minister of India as the leader of freedom fight. After that a great leader of nation become selfish and he started nepotism in the Indian democracy. Now the nepotism is deep rooted in Indian political system. If we go through the total Indian political system we will find the most of the family who are ruling India are belongs to the same family. Nehru Gandhi family ,Biju Patnaik family ,Chandrababu Naidu family, Mulayam Singh family, Lalu Prasad Yadav family ,Rajnath Singh family ,Scindia family , Sharad Pawar .Badal family is this if we count all of our India this nepotism is the main reason of the weakness of Indian democracy and it is not modernising due to this only. because this all families are enjoying power since since independence and they accumulated a lot of money through corruption. They distribute money for getting popular votes and again they come to power and do corruption by gathering money. This is like a water cycle in the earth. Even in India there are families which are having 5 or 6 MPS representing in the parliament. Like Mulayam Singh family about five members in the parliament Gandhi family Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi like this this list will not end. Population of 135 crore people are not able to participate in the process of democracy because this democracy has been Hijacked by this reach and famous families.

The second most problem in Indian democracy is casteism and religion. Mainly like Lalu Prasad Yadav ,Mulayam Singh ,Mayawati asking support from the people on the basis of caste. The another phenomena has been developed after coming off Bhartiya Janta Party in power they are asking votes on religious line. In present government Prime Minister and other ministers directly dividing the society in the name of community. The democracy is affected by caste system and religion very severely. Most of the Indian not understanding just they are supporting their caste and religion for the Supremacy and therefore it deteriorating position of democracy. The Indian Constitution is secular but in practical it is not secular.

The Indian democracy is totally Hijacked by the people ,who are criminals and Mafia. Most of public representatives in India are having criminal cases against them but pending. More than 150 Member of Parliament are having the allegations Murder and kidnapping. Most of the liquor and other business are controlled by the political leaders. Most of the leaders of India having connection with big business houses, even the Prime Minister of India and they support them to get money during the elections. The criminalisation of politics in India is a major deficiency which is affecting negatively lead to growth of democracy in India. The money maker is the biggest matter in the Indian Election System. You need millions and millions of rupees to take part in election and process. The ethical value of Indian democracy is Hijacked by this criminals and this politicians. A highly educated and a gentleman will not able to even fight gram panchayat election without money. We need at least 1 million rupees to contest for a member of Panchayat. For the election of MLA we need at least 20 crore rupees and for the Parliament member we need at least 50 crore rupees. So there is no way for common people of India to take part honestly in the process of democracy.

Explanation:

Democratic decline is caused by the state-led weakening of political institutions that sustain the democratic system, such as the peaceful transition of power or electoral systems.
