Answer:

Well, basically in our stomach, we secrete dilute HCl acid, which you can understand is strongly acidic. Now it may happen that food contains a weak base like those of sodium (NaHCO3/NaOH), which are alkaline/basic in nature. Now there occurs a slight neutraliztion reaction here. But the food which passes from our stomach to the small intestine is basically acidic in nature, as you know in chemistry that Strong acid + Weak Base = Acidc product

Explanation:

So, you can conclude confidently, that the food in our stomach turns acidic in nature. The reason for this is that the enzymes find it easier to digest acidic substances, and there are a lot of enzymes in the intestine, you know.

Neutralisation reaction in stomach

Answer:

Excessive hydrochloric acid in the stomach can cause uneasiness and indigestion. So, in order to neutralise the effect of the excessive acid, a base in the form of antacid is consumed. So from the given situation, we can derive the following:

Acid- Hydrochloric acid (HCl)

Base- Considering Sodium hydroxide (NaCl)

In a neutralisation reaction, an acid reacts with a base to form salt and water with the evolution of heat. Therefore the word equations can be:

Acid + base → Salt + water (with the evolution of heat)

Substituting the names of the acids and bases, we get:

Hydrochloric acid + Sodium hydroxide → Sodium chloride + Water (with the evolution of heat)

HCl + NaOH → NaCl + H_{2} O (With the evolution of heat)

The evolution of heat can be showed with a small triangle above the arrow in the equation. I have not provided it due to typing inconvenience. Please cooperate.
