Formula for work = F s cos θ, where θ is the angle between Force applied and displacement --> ' s'
Now, if we assume that the person is pulling the load upwards-->
cos θ = cos 0 = 1
.'. The value would be = mgh
But in case, the person is carrying the thing over head, cosθ=cos90= 0;
