Given:

Threshold wavelength = 580nm

Wavelenght of light = 475nm

To Find:

The stopping potential

Solution:

Work function = hc/λ0

(6.626 x 10`34) ( 3 x 10`8)/ ( 580 x 10`9) (1.6 x 10`19)

= 2.14 ev

Energy of 475nm radiation = hc/ λ

= (6.626 x 10`34) ( 3 x 10`8)/ ( 475 x 10`9) (1.6 x 10`19)

= 2.62 ev

Stopping Potential

= 2.62  - 2.14

= 0.48V

Answer: The stopping potential is 0.48V.

Answer:

Work function = hc/λ0

(6.626 x 10`34) ( 3 x 10`8)/ ( 580 x 10`9) (1.6 x 10`19)

= 2.14 ev

Energy of 475nm radiation = hc/ λ

Stopping Potential

= 2.62 - 2.14 = 0.48V

The stopping potential is 0.48V.
