Areolar connective tissue serves quite a few functions and, because of this, is found in various places of the body, such as surrounding your blood vessels, nerve bundles, muscles, and organs. It also fills spaces between organs and, more superficially, connects your skin to your underlying muscular layers.

The areolar tissue is connective in function. It fixed skin with the muscles, fills the spaces inside the organs, attaches the blood vessels and nerves with the surrounding tissues, fastens the peritoneum to the body wall and viscera. It is commonly known as "Packaging tissue" of the body.
