xylem is used to transport water and minerals from roots to leaves.. whereas phloem is used to transport food from leaves to different parts of the plant..

It is a vascular and mechnaical tissue used by plants as conducting and supporting tissue.
Functions :-
1. It carry water from root to differvt part of shoot.
2. Its cell wall are lignified, and gives mechanical strength to the plant body.
Phloem :
It contains tubes but has no mechanical function.
Functions :-
