the force of gravity on satellite is centripital force. centripital force is a force in which an object moves round the main attracting object.the work done hence becomes zero

Gravity acts towards the center of theearth. So if the satellite moves in a circular orbit with center of earth as the orbit center the work done at any point is zero, since the force and the displacement are perpendicular.
