The average Indian worker's plight is quite miserable by all standards.
As per a recent report, an Indian worker earns much less than a dollar an hour and therefore there is much inequality and exploitation.
As per 2012, there were more than 487 million workers in the country.
It is only the second largest after China.
Out of all these, more than 94 percent work in unorganised and unincorporated firms or entities that spans gem polishing operations, pushcart vendors to lowly jobs like masonry and woodwork.
There is much unemployment in the country due to which people can easily be found for even working in hazardous places.
There is no legislation in place that addresses these questions in a meaningful way.
