Solution:

Given equation:

y = -4(x+2)

______________________

Convert the equation into intercepts form:

i.e x/a + y/b = 1 ,

where

x-intercept = a

y-intercept = b

__________________

=> 4(x+2)+y = 0

=> 4x+8+y = 0

=> 4x+y = -8

Divide each term by (-4) , we get

=> 4x/(-4) + y/(-4) = -8/(-4)

=> x/(-1) + y/(-4)=1 Compare

this x/a+y/b = , we get

a = -1 , b = -4

Therefore,

X-intercept = a = -1 ,

y- intercept = b = -4
