The second one ( evaporation) is a method involving either direct or indirect heating. The ink is kept in a beaker and placed in a water bath and heated, for the water to evaporate.

This method can be used for bulk separation.

Chromatography involves the use of Blotting Paper. A drop of ink is put on the Blotting paper, and it is dipped into the water. Slowly, as the water rises, the different dyes in the ink seperate onto the paper.

This method cannot be used for bulk separation.
