The poem is about a child who would love to explore and roam around the city and village. The child will become the first object which he saw every day and a part of that object would remain with him for short or long period of time and will vanish by itself.

The child carried different parts of grass, wildflowers, lilac and other different objects which he would see every day in the morning. The main theme of the poem is about the way a child relates himself to his surroundings.
