life forms being able to emerge from non-living things. According to this hypothesis, life
originated on earth from spontaneously from non-living things.
It was believed that the mud of Nile River could give rise to living creatures like frogs,
toads, snakes and crocodiles when warmed in sun.
Von Helmant said that human’s shirt wet with sweat and wheat bran, if kept together
for 21 days, could form mice.
This theory was later rejected by Fransesco Redi, Spallanzani and Louis Pasteur by their
different experiments.
