Answer:
What is Thermal conductivity?
⇒ Thermal conductivity is the amount of heat that is transferred over certain duration of time due to a temperature difference.
⇒ Experimentally observation show that amount of heat transfer is directly proportional to temperature difference (ΔT), area of face A and the time at which heat is flow and inversely proportional to distance between two faces.
Where,
- ΔT = Temperature difference (T₁ - T₂)
- Δx = Distance between two faces.
- t = Time at which heat flow.
- Q = Amount of heat
- A = Area
⇒ Unit of k = JS⁻¹m⁻¹k⁻¹
⇒ Dimension = [M¹L¹T⁻³K⁻¹]
