What is thermit reaction? Give one use of this reaction?

It is a reaction in which a highly reactive metal is made to react with s compound inorder to get a metal from the compound.This reaction being highly exothermic the metal we get will be in molten state.If we are using aluminium to obtain iron from it's compound since the reaction is highly exothermic we will get iron in molten state .

This can be used to join the cracks in rsilway lines etc
