◾Thermodynamics is a branch of Physics which deals with the interconversion of heat and other forms of energy.

⚫The difference between heat and work are :

◾In the case of heat, transfer of energy between the system and the surrounding is due to their difference of temperature.

◾In the case of work, transfer of energy between the system and the surrounding does not depend on the temperature.

◾Eg: An enclosed gas can be compressed or expanded by operating the piston.
