\underline{\boxed{\bf{\orange{Thermodynamics :}}}}

▪ Thermodynamics is a macroscopic science.

▪ The thermodynamics state of a system is characterized by its internal energy, not heat. That is, internal energy is a state variable. For this reason, the statement like a gas in given state has 'a certain amount of energy' is meaningful.

▪ In thermodynamics, heat and work are not state variables. These are the modes of energy transfer to a system resulting in the change in its internal energy.

▪ Thus the statement like 'a gas in a given state has certain amount of heat and work' is meaningless, on the other hand, the statement like 'a certain amount of heat is supplied to the system or a certain amount of work is done by the system' is meaningful.

▪ The zeroth law of thermodynamics was founded by R.H.Fowler in 1931 long after the first and second laws of thermodynamics were stated. But as this law leads to the concept of the fundamental quantity i.e., temperature, so this law was called the zeroth law.
