The poet speaks about himself and wants us to be like a busy bee in our work. ... Satan in the poem refers to the devil, or some evil being who injures the idle person. The poet wants to spend his boyhood day by reading good books, playing and doing some good and useful work.

Answer:

How doth the little busy Bee

Improve each shining Hour,

And gather Honey all the day

From every opening Flower!

How skilfully she builds her Cell!

How neat she spreads the Wax!

And labours hard to store it well

With the sweet Food she makes.

In Works of Labour or of Skill

I would be busy too:

For Satan finds some Mischief still

For idle Hands to do.

In Books, or Work, or healthful Play

Let my first Years be past,

That I may give for every Day

Some good Account at last.

Summary of poem Against Idleness and Mischief by Isaac Watts:

The poem is written by Isaac Watts and in this poem he encourages people to do work and not to remain idle. In the poem Against Idleness and Mischief the poet compares the work that a tiny bee does. They visit each and every flower as soon as the flowers open to collect nectar, then they come to their hive where they make honey from the nectar.

The poet also gives the example of queen bee who makes the hive neat and clean with different chambers. The poet is in awe with the hard work done by these small creatures and he instructs the people to do some work and not to be idle. The poet also believes that when we remain idle Satan plays his ways and makes us to do mischief, therefore we should all do work and not remain idle.
