This method is generally used by farmers to separate the grains from the stalks after harvesting. This dried stalks are beaten, or threshed, to separate the grains. In large farms, thrashing is done by using machines, called threshers.

Threshing is the process of loosening the edible part of grain from the chaff to which it is attached. It is the step in green preparation after reaping. It does not remove the bran from the grain. It may be done by beating the grain using a flail on a threshing floor. In large farms, it is done by big machines called threshers.
