India is a diverse country without doubt and this diversity can also be observed in the education standards across different tiers of cities in India. Talking of different tiers, cities in India are classified based on HRA (House Rent Allowance) into Class X, Y and Z; more commonly known as Tier-1, Tier-2 and Tier-3 respectively. There is another classification that exists based on the population, but for our study we’ll stick to the former classification.

Tier-1 tops the class based on better standards of living, exposure and job opportunities. But slowly and gradually, Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities are emerging as some of the fastest growing cities in the world. Not only are these cities coming up with better job options, they are also getting well connected with time and are offering better education opportunities. Rapid income growth, growing urbanization, younger population and availability of skilled labour are some of the factors responsible for this rapid development of Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Experts believe that these exponentially growing factors are the key business boosters in these cities.
But beyond everything, a visible change is being witnessed in the education sector. For instance, Jaipur, a Tier-2 city, is emerging as an education hub with numerous private sector institutes and universities establishing themselves in the city. It boasts of having 22 universities in the city itself, which exceeds the number of universities that cities like London and New York possess. In fact, world class education is likely to be one of the major points of attraction for Jaipur in the future. Another growing example is that of Nagpur, which has over 80 colleges offering courses across various disciplines, including medical, engineering, arts and business administration.
