time dilation is the concept that when you approach the speed of light ,

the time becomes slower for you .

according to it as fast you move through space , the slower you move through time.

it was given in accordance of theory of general relativity by Einstein.

according to it as you approach the speed of light , an hour becomes infinite or you can think that time stops.

and yes, it's proven...

and one more think, it also states if you move faster than speed of light you can make a hole in space time continuum and can successfully travel into past ( same happened in the flash season 1 )
