Time Machine backs up files that have changed to either an internal drive, external hard drive or to another computer in the network running Leopard. It can also send backups to Time Capsule, a network-attached storage (NAS) and wireless router from Apple.

When Time Machine is turned on, it automatically backs up your performs hourly, daily, and weekly backups of your files. When you use Time Machine, Time Machine also saves a local snapshot you can use to recover previous versions of files, even if your backup disk is not attached.
