Tissue culture is a technique of regeneration of a whole plant from any part of the plant by growing it on a culture medium under aspetic conditions.

The steps involved in tissue culture are:

Stage 1: It is the intiation phase. In this phase, ex-plants are derived from any part of the plant to be propagated is sterilized and initiated into the culture.

Stage 2: It is the multiplication phase. At this stage, the in-vitro plant material is re divided and placed with plant growth regulators that induce proliferation of multiple shoots. This process is repeated many times until the number of plants desired is reached.

Stage 3: It is the root formation phase. It involves induction of hormones to induce rooting and the formation of complete plantlets.
