What is tissue? What are the constituent of phloem
Answers
Answer:
ns. A group of cells that are similar in structure and work together to do a peculiar function is called tissue.
The types of simple tissues are parenchyma, collenchyma, sclerenchyma and aerenchyma.
The husk of coconut is made of sclerenchymatous tissue.
Answer:
Tissue - Group of similar cells having common origin and perform common function
Constituents of phloem :-
1. Seive tube
Sieve-tube elements are almost always adjacent to nucleus-containing companion cells, which have been produced as sister cells with the sieve element from the same mother cell and lack nucleus at maturity.
The main function of the sieve tube is transport of carbohydrates, primarily sucrose, in the plant (e.g., from the leaves to the fruits and roots).
2. Companion cell :- These are living cell with closely associated with seive cell. Its main function is to provide energy to phloem or seive cell and regulate its function .
3. Phloem parenchyma :-It is living and thin walled. It's function is storage and translocation of food.
4. Phloem fiber :- These are dead cells which give mechanical support and flexibility to plant.
