\frac{1}{4} \: should  \: be \:  subtracted \:  from \:  9 \:  to \:  get \:  7\frac{3}{5}

To get the number that should be subtracted from 9 to get 7 3/4:-

7\frac{3}{4}=\frac{7×4+3}{4}=\frac{31}{4}

\frac{9}{1}-\frac{31}{4}

_____________________________

\frac{9}{1}×\frac{4}{4}=\frac{32}{4}

\frac{31}{4}×\frac{1}{1}=\frac{31}{4}

\frac{32-31}{4}=\frac{1}{4}
