when a living cell lose water through Osmosis there is a sinkage or contraction of water content of the cell away from the cell wall
this is called plasmolsis

️ The word Plasmolysis was generally derived from a Latin and Greek word plasma – The mould and lusis – loosening.

✒️ Types of Plasmolysis :–

◼️ Concave Plasmolysis.

◼️ Convex Plasmolysis.

✒️ Conditions of Plasmolysis :–

⬛️ Isotonic: External solution balances the osmotic pressure of the cytoplasm.

⬛️ Hypotonic: External solution is more dillute than the cytoplasm (cell swells).

⬛️ Hypertonic: External solution is more concentrated (cells shrink).
