The Sellar Property Group has commissioned architect Renzo Piano to design another tower as part of its regeneration of the London Bridge area.
The 27-storey project is being dubbed Shard number three, as it will be Piano's third tower project in the area after his original 87-storey Shard, the tallest building in Western Europe, and the so-called Baby Shard (or, more officially, The Place) next door, which has just 17 floors.
The new building, which will be next to the Shard and London Bridge Station, will house 150 apartments, a new public space, retail space and will ‘float' 14m above London Bridge Street.
"This exciting project continues the regeneration of the area around London Bridge Station, building on the success of both the Shard and The Place as well as the significant improvements we have already made to the station concourse and bus station," said James Sellar, son of the property group's founder Irvine Sellar.
